Remember when Lauren Conrad interned at Teen Vogue on The Hills? Or being not-so-secretly obsessed with Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada and dreaming of being Editor in Chief one day all throughout high school?

Let’s face it, being the fashion editor of a mega publication is the dream, and Hannah Baxter’s got it. A true expert in all things fashion and beauty, Hannah is a leading fashion editor at luxury lifestyle platform, Coveteur (aka one of our most visited bookmarks) in NYC. As you can imagine, editors are bussssyyyyy people, so we were psyched when Hannah agreed to provide valuable insight into the glamorous world of editors and answers to our most burning questions.

Read on to find out.

You moved to NYC at 24--What was your first move upon arriving? Networking? Interning? Did you have a job in place already?

I had an internship at an off-broadway theatre in the west village. That turned into a full time job 3 months later, but I was bartending part-time to afford my rent.

As an editor living in one of the busiest cities in the world, how do you manage and organize your time? How do you keep it all under control and what does a typical day look like for you?

Every day is different and crazy, but I try to not overwhelm myself with appointments. It's hard to say no when amazing opportunities arise, but I would rather do less and give it 100% than spread myself too thin. I also try to make sure I get 8 hours of sleep a night — I do not function well when I'm exhausted. It's all about prioritizing, because you can't go to everything and please everyone, and taking care of your mental and physical health first.

We see new innovative fashion and beauty pieces from you every week at Coveteur. Where do you find new inspiration and ideas?

I read as much as I can, scroll through Instagram for inspiration from photographers and stylists I love, and visit new spaces and try new things. A great idea usually comes from something small, so you really do need to constantly be mentally cataloging what you find inspiring.
